Brushing Your Pup
Daily brushing can be an excellent way to bond with your puppy, as well as eliminating excess hair and preventing matted fur. Bright Smiles
Clean teeth are also very important, and it is a good idea to get your puppy used to having his teeth brushed. The first step in dental care for your pet is to help her learn to accept having her mouth and teeth examined. Start by examining your puppy’s mouth briefly once a month. Gradually work up to brushing his teeth a couple times per month or as needed. Ear Inspection
Regular ear care is one of the most overlooked areas of puppy health. Good ear care consists of a weekly inspection and, if necessary, a cleaning. Reward with treats during and after the cleaning to keep the experience positive.
Cleaning Ears
To examine your puppy’s ear, hold the tip between your thumb and forefinger and gently roll it up so you can see the underside of the ear. If you notice any debris, you can wipe the inside of the ear with ear-cleaning pads, available at Pet Supermarket. If you notice any odor or wetness, you can use one of our ear-cleaning solutions to swab and treat the underside of the ear. Massage a small amount of cleaning solution to the area you wish to clean, and remember to dry the underside of the ear when finished.
Bath Time
Your puppy will also need a bath from time to time, especially if he likes to play outdoors! We offer a wide selection of top quality, gentle shampoos that are safe for you and your puppy. Getting your puppy used to baths at a young age will help him get comfortable with baths as an adult. Be sure to have plenty of treats on hand to let him know he’s doing a good job!
